The Economic Development of Apache County Corporation (EDAC)
provides assistance to businesses and individuals wishing to
relocate or expand to the communities of Eagar, St. Johns,
Springerville, and the unincorporated areas of Southern Apache
County. A non-profit corporation, EDAC facilitates site selection,
assists businesses in identifying incentive programs, and provides
introductions to government and financial institutions for new and
expanding businesses in the region.
The EDAC staff implements strategic economic development initiatives and policies set forth by the community governments, industry leaders and county government, whose representatives make up the EDAC Board of Directors. EDAC initiates, implements, and manages special marketing projects, as well as on going grant projects designed to assist low to moderate income areas. |

Business AttractionThrough the Economic Development for Apache County Corporation (EDAC), the communities offer incentives to new and expanding businesses. A non-profit corporation chartered to assist new and expanding businesses, the EDAC Corporation is able to provide assistance to companies in negotiating company specific incentives and offer assistance in arranging "build-to-suit" site improvement. Some of these programs include:
Along with a full array of assistance in financial,
technical, and job training programs designed to assist businesses
in the region. Enterprise ZoneAll of Southern Apache County is a designated Enterprise Zone,
which can mean substantial savings to businesses. A state
corporation tax credit up to $3,000 over a three year period is
offered for each new employee, provided the employee is a permanent
full-time position, with a minimum wage designated by the county.
Qualified manufacturing businesses are also eligible for property
tax reclassification for 5 years, which can result in an 80%
reduction in taxes on all real and personal property located in the
enterprise zone. Industrial SitesMore than 400 acres of industrial sites are available in the region, ranging from limited utilities to developed infrastructure and nearby airport access. The communities and EDAC Corporation are working with new and expanding businesses to suit the unique requirements of manufacturing, agricultural, commercial, transportation and high tech industries. EDAC is the statutory agent for the Industrial Authority in Apache County. This non-profit promotes industry to the region and provides technical assistance therein.
